Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-07
Acceptance
By installing or using MonCut, you agree to these terms.
These Terms of Service govern your use of MonCut, the macOS application available via the Mac App Store, and moncut.com. By installing the app, using the website, or subscribing to email updates, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install the app or use the website.
License
One license per Apple ID — all your Macs on that Apple ID + up to 6 family members via Family Sharing.
MonCut grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use the application on any Mac signed in to your Apple ID. Apple's Family Sharing for non-consumable in-app purchases lets you share MonCut with up to 6 family members on the same Apple ID family group. The license is personal and tied to your Apple ID — you may not redistribute, resell, or sublicense the application.
Free trial
14 days of full functionality. After day 14, recording and editing keep working — only Export requires unlocking for $30.
When you first launch MonCut, a 14-day free trial begins automatically. During the trial, all features are available — recording, editing, preview, transcription, all of it. After 14 days, recording and editing remain available, but the Export function locks until you complete a one-time $30 purchase via the Mac App Store. No credit card is required during the trial. No automatic conversion.
Payment and refunds
Payment is processed by Apple via the Mac App Store. Refund requests follow Apple's standard policy.
MonCut is sold exclusively through the Mac App Store. Apple processes all payments. We do not directly handle your billing information. Refund requests are handled by Apple under their standard refund policy (https://reportaproblem.apple.com). The 14-day free trial gives you the opportunity to evaluate the app fully before purchasing.
Acceptable use
Don't use MonCut to record content illegally or to violate someone's privacy or consent.
You may not use MonCut to record screens, audio, or video in violation of applicable laws or the privacy/consent rights of others. You are solely responsible for the content you record, edit, and distribute using MonCut. The application provides recording capabilities; how you use them is your responsibility, and you indemnify the developer against claims arising from misuse.
Intellectual property
MonCut and its trademarks belong to the developer. The recordings you create with MonCut belong to you.
The MonCut application, name, logo, and associated trademarks are the property of the developer. You may not copy, modify, decompile, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the application beyond rights granted by applicable law. The recordings, transcripts, edited projects, and exported videos you create using MonCut belong to you. We claim no ownership over your content.
Open source acknowledgments

Disclaimer of warranties
MonCut is provided 'as is.' We don't warrant it'll work for every use case or never have bugs.
MonCut is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the application will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Limitation of liability
Liability is limited to what you paid for MonCut ($30 or less).
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to MonCut is limited to the amount you paid for the application — $30 or less. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.
